It should come as no surprise that a recent Stanford study found that nearly half of all iPhone users acknowledge iPhone addiction. What might be surprising are some of the behaviors associated with iPhone addiction: 75 percent admitted to sleeping with their iPhones in bed next to them.

Many of those surveyed also indicated that the iPhone was more than a media device. They considered it an extension of their own mind and body, and a means to a social life.

This iPhone addiction may have a silver lining in iPhone sales and employment for addiction therapists.

The iPhone addiction infomercial parody in the video above is shot completely on the iPhone. Of course.
Interestingly, the iPhone is seen less as an outside device and more of an extension of the person due to the amount of personal information held on it and the ways in which students use it to organize and facilitate their social lives. Researchers were surprised by how readily students seem to anthropomorphize the device.
